This movie is a sequel to the Ice Age film series and the 4th in the series. The 3D animated film follows Scrat, a saber-toothed squirrel, in his pursuit of acorns. Scrat's actions inadvertently lead to an iceberg being dislodged from a glacier at just before it's ready to move off. With both Scrat and Sid along for the ride, they head back into an arctic world that is changing much more quickly than they can adapt to. Meanwhile, Manny and Ellie try their best to protect Peaches by going on a journey themselves where they encounter many life-threatening situations while meeting up with other animals from previous films including Diego and Granny. Ice Age: Collision Course is a 3D computer-animated comedy film. Ice Age: Collision Course is directed by Carlos Saldanha, and produced by Blue Sky Studios, Blue Sky Studios Animation, and 20th Century Fox. It was also the first Ice Age film to be animated in 3D. The Walt Disney Company had acquired Blue Sky Studios as a sister studio to Pixar. In the past, both studios had worked together on the animated films Monsters vs. Aliens and Rio which were both released in 2010. After the success of these two films, it was decided that all future releases from these studios would be produced with a 3D animation format due to its success with Rio and Monsters vs. Aliens. In April 2012, 20th Century Fox announced a fourth installment of the Ice Age film series was in development, which was titled Ice Age: Continental Drift. There were many rumors throughout the years regarding if any other films would be made. However it wasn't until November 2014 when 20th Century Fox officially confirmed that there would be another movie in the Ice Age series with this film. The plot revolves around Scrat's pursuit of acorns, while Sid is excited about moving into his new home after the continental drift separates Manny, Diego and their migrating herd from Ellie, Peaches and Crash. Meanwhile, Granny is excited to move in with Sid after leaving her home behind with no intention of ever returning. It is revealed that Sid's home is located directly underneath a saber-toothed squirrel's territory, who is in fact Scrat in hiding. When Scrat realizes that his acorn stash is missing, he returns to his territory only to have the saber-tooth cats chase him back into Sid's home. Meanwhile, Manny and Diego are living in an ice cave where they are visited by a female woolly mammoth named the "Juggernaut". The Juggernaut offers Diego help when she notices their struggles with finding food. She states that she would have helped them sooner but her current son, Ferdinand "Fern" was born with small tusks so she was unable to do so at the time. She then agrees to help the herd and their search for food, but unbeknownst to Diego, her intentions are to overthrow him as Alpha Male. At Sid's home, Scrat awakens Diego and explains the problem at hand. Diego tries to warn Manny and Ellie of the saber-tooth cats, but they believe him as crazy due to his earlier encounters with them. However they do persuade them to help solve the crisis; Manny comes up with a plan that will lead them to victory without arousing suspicion from "The Herd". However the plan fails when Sid becomes separated from Peaches and unintentionally draws attention from The Herd's guards (who were aware of Scrat's presence and intentions).
